A few days ago, the People & Talent team at Somnio Software gathered at our headquarters in Montevideo to step away from the day-to-day and reflect on the future of people and culture in tech. In a world where AI is transforming HR processes and the expectations of talent continue to evolve, moments like this help us rethink how we attract, develop, and support the people building the next generation of digital products.

‍

Taking a moment to think differently

Some weeks ago, the People & Talent team at Somnio Software came together at our headquarters in Montevideo with a simple but powerful goal: to think differently about the future of our company.

The intention was not to solve operational issues or catch up on daily work. Instead, we wanted to create the space to pause and ask ourselves an important question: how do we want to build the next chapter of Somnio Software?

In the technology industry, where change happens quickly and talent expectations evolve constantly, these conversations are essential. If we want to continue building an environment where great professionals thrive, we need to actively rethink how we attract, develop, and support the people who make innovation possible.

The new challenges for HR in technology companies

The role of HR in technology companies has changed significantly in recent years. Artificial intelligence is transforming many of the processes that used to define People & Talent teams. Today, HR professionals can leverage technology to source candidates more efficiently, analyze hiring patterns, personalize onboarding experiences, and gain insights from people analytics in real time.

These advances open exciting possibilities, but they also bring new responsibilities. When technology can optimize so many processes, the real challenge becomes understanding how to use it strategically while ensuring that the human side of work remains at the center.

At Somnio Software, we see People & Talent as a strategic partner for the business. Our role goes beyond recruitment or internal processes. We contribute to shaping the environment where innovation happens and where talented professionals can grow alongside the company.

A few days to explore the future of work

During our time together in Montevideo, we dedicated several sessions to visioning, brainstorming, and workshops about the future of work in technology companies.

We talked openly about trends in the talent market, the increasing role of AI in HR, and the evolving expectations of developers, designers, and product professionals around the world. We also reflected on the challenges of building a strong culture in distributed teams and how companies can maintain meaningful connections when people collaborate remotely across different countries.

These conversations are valuable not only for aligning strategies but also for reinforcing a shared perspective about what kind of organization we want to continue building.

Why human connection still matters

AI can help us process information faster and automate repetitive tasks, but it cannot replace what truly makes a company meaningful: the relationships between the people who build it.

Behind every process, metric, or decision there are individuals with ambitions, ideas, and personal journeys. Keeping that perspective is essential when designing hiring strategies, career development paths, or internal experiences.

Our work in People & Talent is not simply about managing processes. It is about creating the conditions where people feel inspired, supported, and connected to a shared purpose. That perspective guided many of the conversations during our time together, and it remains a fundamental part of how we think about culture at Somnio.

Building the next chapter of Somnio Software

As Somnio Software continues to grow across Latin America and beyond, with Somniers collaborating from 8 different countries, the role of People & Talent becomes even more important in shaping the future of the company. As a remote-first tech company in Latin America, we believe that talent can thrive anywhere when the right environment, culture, and opportunities are in place.

Our work influences how teams collaborate, how knowledge is shared, and how professionals build meaningful careers within our ecosystem.

Spending time together as a team reminded us that great ideas rarely appear when we are rushing through our daily tasks. They emerge when we take the time to listen, reflect, and imagine new possibilities together.

And when you surround yourself with people who genuinely care about what they do, those ideas come naturally.
