Background
Wrist Goal is a smartwatch app that brings live football to the wrist. Built for Huawei wearables, it gives fans glanceable access to scores and match events, turning the watch into a personal match companion.
The challenge
Football, in real time
Huawei wanted a wrist first experience for football fans during the World Cup: instant access to live match information without friction or distraction, on a device where every interaction lasts seconds and battery life matters. Beyond the tournament, the platform needed to be scalable and reusable, capable of supporting future international leagues and competitions from a single investment.
The solution
Three phases, one launch
Huawei partnered with Somnio Software to lead the full development under a fixed scope model, in three phases: product definition to align vision and technology, iterative development focused on performance and battery efficiency, and validation on real devices through the live launch
The result
Wrist Goal launched on HarmonyOS NEXT through HUAWEI AppGallery, delivering a high performance wearable experience for live World Cup matches: fans get scores and key moments the second they happen, straight from their wrist. Its template based architecture also lets Huawei extend the platform to future leagues and competitions with minimal effort, maximizing the value of the initial investment.
