Background
PadsPass is a digital pet passport that helps pet owners travel internationally with their animals. The app stores verified health records certified by veterinarians and cross-references them against entry requirements by destination, carrier, and transport mode so pet parents, vets, airlines, and governments all work from the same source of truth.
The challenge
Too many rules, no single source of truth
Pet travel requirements vary by jurisdiction, carrier, species, and transport mode, and no platform had ever consolidated all of it. PadsPass needed more than an app: a multi-stakeholder backend serving pet parents, vets, airlines, and governments from a single source of verified health data. The build was complex, backend-heavy, and had never been done before.
The solution
From prototype to multi-stakeholder platform
PadsPass partnered with Somnio Software to transform an early prototype into a production-grade mobile app built on FlutterFlow. We designed a multi-stakeholder platform serving pet parents, veterinary clinics, airlines, and governments from a single codebase, with veterinarian-verified health records at the core and compliance with IATA live animal regulations built in.
The result
PadsPass launched on the App Store and Google Play, serving pet owners across Bermuda, the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and Mexico, with new destinations added weekly. In real-world testing across 20+ prototype iterations, a health certificate was completed in under 4 minutes. Veterinary clinics onboard for free, airline and government integrations are underway, and a recent partnership with FIGO pet insurance puts PadsPass in front of a fast-growing market: pet travel bookings surged 260% heading into 2026.
