Cucchiara
Background
Cucchiara, together with its group brand Sekoia, is an online brokerage and wealth management platform. It lets investors trade, manage portfolios and funds, and transfer money across Argentina, Uruguay, and New Zealand, each market with its own regulatory requirements.
The challenge
One platform, three regions
Cucchiara needed to build and evolve a single investor platform on web and mobile that could serve three regions at once. The existing OMS and BackOffice had to be integrated through an API, login and account management had to be unified across regions, and critical flows like login, password recovery, and account linking between regions needed stronger security. Adding SSO and automatic DMA user provisioning also meant migrating data across three regional databases without interrupting service.
The solution
A unified, secure build
Cucchiara partnered with Somnio Software to build and evolve the platform through continuous sprint work, following a discovery phase that ran across several iterations. We integrated the OMS and BackOffice via API, unified login across the three regional databases, and added SSO and automatic DMA user provisioning. A dedicated team tracked everything in Jira and worked closely with the client through regular sprint reviews.
The result
Cucchiara now runs one investor platform across Argentina, Uruguay, and New Zealand, and moving every user onto it cost the business no downtime. The migration carried 8 of 8 admins and 21 of 21 producers over with full traceability and no data lost, backed by real time replication between the on premises system and AWS. Investors get a portfolio dashboard, region specific deposit and withdrawal flows, fund subscription and redemption, and a redesigned experience with dark mode.

Our approach
Building for three regions
- Regional deposit and withdrawal flows: each market follows its own rules, so we adapted the money flows per region, including request forms for Uruguay and New Zealand and ACDI account integration.
- Unified login migration: we consolidated login across the three regional databases and migrated every admin and producer with full traceability and no data loss.
- Automatic DMA provisioning: new investor users are provisioned automatically through the OMS BackOffice API, removing manual steps from onboarding.
- Admin tooling: we built tools for user creation, linking and unlinking regions, and resending invitations, so the team can manage accounts across markets from one place.
Security and reliability
- Security focused onboarding: account activation, login, and password recovery were designed and prioritized as a dedicated 12 story epic, with security as the first concern in every flow.
- Real time replication: data replicates between the on premises system and AWS in real time, which keeps the platform available with no downtime during migration and daily use.
- AI assisted delivery: we used structured specs, traceable data migrations, automated test generation, and AI assisted QA to move faster without compromising quality on sensitive financial flows.
