September was a big month for the Flutter community, with two major conferences, inspiring talks, and new tools to power your apps. From Quito to Berlin, developers came together to learn, share, and shape the future of cross-platform development. Let’s recap the highlights.
Community highlights: FlutterConf LATAM 2025
On September 17, the Flutter community gathered in Quito, Ecuador, for another unforgettable edition of FlutterConf LATAM 2025.
This year’s edition welcomed an average of 250 attendees, featured 33 technical talks, and brought together developers from across the region. The countries with the largest presence were Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Uruguay, and Paraguay.
At Somnio Software, we were proud to support the event once again as sponsors and contributors. Our booth became a hub for trivia, swag, and plenty of great conversations.
Two of our Somniers also took the stage:
- Gianfranco Papa presented “Beyond the Code: From Flutter Developer to AI-Powered Product Builder”, encouraging developers to go beyond frameworks and embrace AI in product development.
- Juan José León delivered “From Schema to Widget: How Code Generation Keeps Your Database and Flutter App in Sync”, showing how to cut duplication and boost type safety.
Couldn’t join live? You can still relive the full event through the official livestream replay.
Bonus: the closing ceremony announced that FlutterConf LATAM 2026 will take place in Cancún, Mexico. Mark your calendars!
Fluttercon Europe in Berlin
Just a week later, from September 24–26, 2025, Berlin hosted the premier Flutter developer event. The scale was massive, bringing together over 1,000 Flutter developers, with more than 75 technical talks spread across five stages during three full days dedicated entirely to Flutter.
This event showcased the global reach of Flutter, with sessions on advanced UI, AI integrations, and scaling strategies. Together with FlutterConf LATAM, it reinforced how vibrant and fast-growing the ecosystem is across regions.
Video of the month: camera Package
Looking to add camera features to your Flutter apps? The camera package is a must-know. It lets you:
- Display live camera previews
- Capture photos and record videos
- Access image streams directly from Dart

Must read articles
This month we recommend two in-depth articles written by our team that go beyond event highlights and dive into practical solutions every Flutter developer should know.
- From Schema to Widget: How Code Generation Keeps Your Database and Flutter App in Sync
Every Flutter developer has faced the pain of keeping database schemas, APIs, and app code aligned. This article breaks down how code generation can eliminate duplication, boost type safety, and make your schema the single source of truth. With real-world examples using Firestore + Protobuf and Postgres + pg_graphql + Ferry, Juan José shows how to reduce bugs and speed up delivery. Read the full article by Juan José León here.
- Essential MCP Servers Every Flutter Developer Should Know
Beyond frameworks, the way we interact with our tools is evolving. This post explores how MCP servers for Firebase, Supabase, GitHub, Slack, and Dart/Flutter can supercharge your workflow. From setting custom claims in Firebase Auth to running SQL queries in Supabase (all directly from your IDE) MCP is transforming everyday development tasks into natural-language prompts.
