An app's success not only depends on the level of the product but also on how you promote it and distribute it. For it to not get lost in the sea of mobile apps in the stores, it's imperative to have a solid app marketing strategy. Planning and defining the plan and strategy for the launch, distribution, and promotion of your mobile application will be the road to getting your app noticed and introduced to the mobile market, which can be done while working on your mobile app development.
In this article, I'll be sharing some ways to promote your app with marketing strategies. Let's get started!
1. Know your user personas
Before beginning the creation of a marketing strategy you must define your buyer persona. Once you know who your target user is, what they value, and the central pain point they experience that your product will solve you can start designing the marketing strategy for the launch and promotion of the app.
2. Create a landing page and a teaser landing page
The product must have a landing page to introduce it. Remember to make it simple and clear. Also, build a teaser landing page before its launch with the objective of collecting beta subscribers via an email submission field.
3. Start a blog
Blogging about your product and things related to it will help you attract users through valuable content and reinforce the importance of the app and the industry of your app. Plus, adding a newsletter subscription to your blog will help you build loyalty with your users.
4. Use social media wisely
Yes, you MUST have a social media profile of your product but it's important to use it in a strategic way. Provide useful content, engage with your audience, build a community, be interesting, be creative, make yourself click-worthy and share-worthy.
5. Create a video of your app
A video will help transmit the service of the app, how it works and why it's useful for the person in an attractive, entertaining, and clear way.
6. Contact writers in your niche
Get in touch with writers and journalists from your industry that may be interested in your app and what it offers so they might want to write a story about it in the press or in a blog.
7. Ask for app reviews
Users, and customers in general, tend to trust each other more than the marketing of a product, so adding reviews and testimonials will help them with the decision of choosing your app.
8. Approach influencers
Social behavior is a key aspect for evaluating ideas and alternatives, and ultimately decision making by choosing a product or service. Thus, working with influencers will help you increase brand awareness and reach, build credibility and trust, and drive purchases decisions.
9. Promote the app in all your communications
You must reference your app and create a content marketing strategy that encompasses all types of channels, platforms, and media to promote your product.
10. Advertise your app
Use a paid strategy through advertising campaigns to reach a broader audience and get to your target users. By defining your user persona you must also deepen and learn about their buyer's journey and to know where you can get in touch with them and in which step of the process. This way, you will know which platform is best for promoting your app with ads. For instance, I recommend starting with Google Ads and adverting in the social media platforms your target user frequents the most!
11. Work on your ASO (App Store Optimization)
Put a special focus on optimizing your app profile in stores by using a descriptive title, using keywords wisely, describing the app correctly, using high-quality screenshots, adding an app preview video, choosing the right category, using a good icon, encouraging positive reviews, and finally using App Store Analytics to measure its performance and evaluate regularly.
12. Remember word-of-mouth marketing
WOM marketing continues to be by far the most effective strategy and to carry it away successfully you mustn't fall into the temptation of overselling because it may result in frustrated users, high uninstall rates, and disappointed people who can negatively talk about your app. Use it wisely and in your favor.
13. Define KPIs (Key Performance Indicators)
By tracking the right metrics at every stage of the user journey you will be able to have insights into the customer experience and identify which parts are being more successful and which need a readjustment. It's vital to analyze these data and constantly optimize your app's performance.
14. Use Email Marketing
Creating a mailing list is a great way to improve customer loyalty and offer your most faithful users unique benefits. As the marketing content sent through these emails will only be received only by those who have shown interest in your product, the chances of increasing retention rates and generating revenue are higher.
All in all
There are several marketing strategies you can include for the launch and promotion of your app, but the important thing is to take into account your product, its industry, and market to choose the ones that fit best for you. It's crucial to prepare and plan a go-to-market strategy for the app to raise anticipation, increase its reach and build a brand. Without mobile app marketing to help spread the word, no one may ever experience your product!
